About Us
The Mill House was originally a water-powered flour mill, dating back to the 11th Century, and was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086. However, the flagstones in Reception are the last survivors of the original Mill.
In the 16th Century the Mill was owned by New College, Oxford then it was rebuilt in 1770 - the original fireplace and bread ovens for proving the dough are now features in the bar area. By 1847, milling was being supplemented by the sale of beer, and so the Mill effectively became part flour mill and part alehouse.
By the late 19th Century, the flour mill was no longer operational and evolved into the Kingham Village Inn. Further conversion in the mid 1980’s resulted in the present-day hotel with 23 bedrooms and a modern conference centre with full, state-of-the-art computer facilities for today’s sophisticated software applications.
